December 2, 2011 -- What a great weekend of championship high school football. Hazard upset Mayfield to take the 1-A title. Holy Cross (Covington) handed Glasgow its first loss of the year in route to the 2-A crown. In Friday's nightcap, Trinity rolled over Scott County in class 6-A. On Saturday, Central survived an early injury to star RB Anthony Wales to beat Belfry in 3-A. Highlands and Bowling Green captured the 4-A and 5-A trophies, respectively. October 22, 2011 -- With the regular season winding down, some state records are starting to fall. Two high schoolers are closing in on their quest to break the all-time rushing. And we now have a new winningest coach in the history of Kentucky High school football. Also on the show, Franklin-Simpson head coach Tim Schlosser joined us. The Wildcats putting up lots of wins this season in route to their first district title in 10 years, and the first for them since joining class 4-A.
October 15, 2011 -- District play continues across the Commonwealth. This week, we bring you all the big games. And while most of the statewide buzz has been about Trinity and Highlands, there's another team really making waves. Class 1-A Mayfield has not lost a game in TWO YEARS. We sat down with head coach Joe Morris as he discussed their keys to victory.
October 8, 2011 -- Less than a month until playoff time. Lots of teams were on bye last night, but there was still plenty of good football. The best of class 6-A Trinity took on second-ranked Manual and John Hardin gave up its first points in more than a month (but still came home with the victory). On today's show, we talk with Southwestern Senior RB Dustin Powell. This kid can flat out pound the rock--coming off a month when he had two games of more than 300 rushing yards. And yet, he's still not getting the love he deserves for Mr. Football.
October 1, 2011 -- The cool weather has finally arrived in the commonwealth, but gridirons throughout the state were steaming with action last night. One of the biggest games of the regular season as more than 30-thousand turned out to watch Trinity and St. X; Morgan Co. and Mayfield continued their dominace and a thriller between Harlan and Clark County. Also on the show, highly touted Glasgow TE Hunter Bowles announced he'll be wearing a Louisville Cardinal uniform next year and Dixie Heights QB Zeke Pike, who is heading off to Auburn next season, stopped by for a visit.
September 24, 2011 --We've hit the halfway mark in the high school football season. Many teams are already looking like play-off caliber squads. For others, they're running out of time to right the ship. On this edition, David Armstrong, director of football operations at the University of Kentucky, told us how the university recruits some of the finest high school athletes in the country.
September 17, 2011 -- Though fall is quickly approaching, the high school football season is heating up. On the national stage, Trinity knocked off Cincinnati St.X. It was also a good Friday night for Bowling Green, holding Owensboro to minus 45 yards in the first half! We also talked with Mr. Kentucky Football candidate J.J. Jude as he passes up Shaun Alexander on the state's all-time rushing list.
September 10, 2011 -- We're already a quarter way through the high school football season. On this week's show, we talked about the big games--Boyle County taking on John Hardin, a battle of the undefeateds as Mayfield played host to Murray and Trinity proved why it might be the best team in the country.
September 3, 2011 -- What a wild week three! Two of the best QBs in the league go at it as Highlands takes on Dixie Heights and Bowling Green proves it can hang with the big boys after knocking off St. X. It was also a good Friday night if you like offense--seven teams put up 60 or more points.
August 27th, 2011 -- Did you know Kentucky has one of the highest high school player misconduct rates in the country? KHSAA is implementing some rule changes to fix the problem. Commissioner Julian Tackett joins me, plus we have the highlights from week 2.
